Do Not Mail Lists

Edited

Steep Marketing uses Do Not Mail Lists to remove individuals or addresses that should not receive campaign mailers before print and distribution.

What Is a Do Not Mail List?

A Do Not Mail List contains two types of exclusions:

  1. Individuals Who Have Requested Not to Receive Mail

  2. Individuals or Addresses Your Office Chooses Not to Mail

Including both of these groups in your Do Not Mail List helps ensure complete protection, reducing the chance of unintended mailings and duplicate touches.

What Information Do We Need in the List?

To process your list accurately, each record must include the following information:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Street Address

  • City

  • State

  • ZIP Code

⚠️ If any of this information is missing, we cannot properly scrub the record from your mail file.

Please submit the list in a simple Excel, CSV, or Google Sheet format. Avoid complex formatting or additional columns — the simpler, the faster we can process it.

What Happens After Submission?

Once your list is received, our team will:

  1. Verify that all required fields are complete.

  2. Scrub the list against your mailing data to remove any listed individuals or addresses.

  3. Record and store the verified list in our database for your future campaigns.

If you later have new names to add, you only need to send the updated records — we will merge them into your existing Do Not Mail database.

When to Submit Your Do Not Mail List

Please submit your Do Not Mail List when you place your direct mail order.
This ensures we can scrub your mailing data before it goes to print.

If your order is placed months in advance, a more current version can be submitted closer to your print date — your coach will help confirm the timing.

If Steep does not receive the list before print, it may cause production delays or require expedited shipping fees to meet your delivery timeline.
